Savannah, Georgia is SO little kid-friendly. From museums and experiences, to just the overall walkability, it’s a great city for families. One of our favorite activities in Savannah is the Telfair Children’s Art Museum (click here to buy tickets!). I think my son could spend the whole day exploring there!
Below, I’ll share an overview of the space, and some important info to know before you go.Â
- Admission is free for kids five and under, so this is definitely a cost-effective activity, especially if you have multiple little kids!
- Pro tip: Tickets are valid for seven days, so buy them right away when you arrive in Savannah so you can return throughout your stay.
- The location is right in the heart of Savannah, so very walkable from most of the downtown hotels. It was literally two blocks from ours, the Springhill Suites Savannah Downtown, which I’d highly recommend for families too!

Telfair Children’s Art Museum play area and family loungeÂ
The open play area and family lounge is the first space you walk into when entering the museum. They have a ton of hands-on activities, so much space to move around and plenty of seating for the whole family. My son loved color matching and exploring shapes in this space, and they have so many activities for little kids to explore.Â
Step into a live impressionist-style painting
The next room was my personal favorite. You literally step into a live and interactive impressionist-style painting of a garden. The room is honestly incredibly calming, and the painting changes as you stay in the room. There’s also a pretend pond in the center of the room (complete with pretend fish!) so you really can feel like you’re immersed in the painting.Â
Library for quiet time, complete with art-focused books
The museum also has a mini library full of books about art, artists and creativity. We loved popping in for a quick story time session to reset after playing.Â

And last but not least, the art studio has a bunch of hands-on arts and creative activities for kids. We built LEGOs, drew with colored pencils and made watercolor paintings to bring home. They had aprons to make sure clothes stayed clean and my son loved having the freedom to create.Â
Overall, I’d give the Telfair Children’s Art Museum a 10/10, and we can’t wait to return!Â
