Savannah, GA is a great destination for a long weekend with little kids. It has tons of family-friendly activities, restaurants and is incredibly walkable!

Where to stay in Savannah with kids
SpringHill Suites Savannah Downtown: We love the SpringHill Suites chain for family travel overall, but REALLY loved the SpringHill Suites in downtown Savannah. It’s in the perfect location and incredibly walkable to so many of Savannah activities. They offer the SpringHill Suites free breakfast, which we think is a total game changer when you’re traveling with kids. Also, the spacious rooms were so comfortable, and they have an outdoor pool.
Dining
Sorry, Charlie’s Oyster Bar: One of the things we were most excited to eat in Savannah was fresh seafood! Sorry, Charlie’s definitely did not disappoint. It had a great selection of oysters and other seafood main dishes and appetizers. The kids menu had a lot of great kid-friendly options and cute coloring sheets and crayons. If you’re traveling with grandparents or someone else who can watch your kiddos, be sure to also check out their rooftop or tiki bars.
River House: River House is located along Savannah’s waterfront, which is the perfect spot for lunch with a view. If the weather is nice, sit outside and you can watch boats pass by on the river while you eat. My son was so entertained! They also have great menu options of both parents and kiddos.
Mellow Mushroom: While the seafood in Savannah is great, you may be in the mood for something different and in our family, pizza is always a crowd favorite. Mellow Mushroom has a ton of unique specialty pizzas if you’re feeling adventurous, as well as more basic options too. Their kid’s menu is great with tons of delicious options, and comes on a coloring page that matches the theme of the restaurant.

Activities
Telfair Children’s Art Museum: If your kids are into art, this is THE museum to visit. The Telfair Children’s Art Museum inside of the Jepson Center has tons of fun, hands-on activities. There are a few separate rooms: The main room, which has exhibits that focus on exploring colors and shapes, a library with art-themed children’s books, an immersive space where you step into an impressionist-style painting, and an art studio with watercolors, LEGOs and more. Hot tip: Visit on your first day because tickets are good for seven days if you want to return. Read about our visit here!
Savannah Children’s Museum: The Savannah Children’s Museum was honestly one of the best we’ve ever visited. The majority of the museum is outdoors, and includes tons of hands-on and imaginative play. A few examples include an exploration maze, play kitchen, marble run, giant blocks, and so much more. The museum is located next to the Georgia State Railroad Museum, so there are also a few play spaces inside an old train car. My son thought this was so cool! Read about our visit here!
Old Town Trolley Tours: Sometime at the beginning of your trip, take a ride on the Old Town Trolley Tour. It’s a hop on/hop off trolley that takes you throughout downtown Savannah. The full ride takes about an hour and a half, and the drivers share history and fun facts along the way. We rode the full loop once, then decided where we wanted to stop for the day. Tickets are good for the full day, which is so convenient, especially for little kids who get tired of walking!
