The Best Hotel Chain for Families (Mid-budget, too!)

Traveling with my son has made me look for an entirely different set of amenities than I did when traveling pre-kids. It’s still really important that hotels are upscale, clean and comfortable. One chain accomplishes all of that while staying family- and budget-friendly. Read below for why I think SpringHill Suites is the best hotel chain for families.

Free breakfast (essential in a best hotel chain for families!)

In my opinion, one huge perk when booking a hotel with my family is free breakfast.

If I’m being honest, this is an amenity that I would have scoffed at pre-kids. A free hotel breakfast instead of brunch? What a crazy thought!

Now as a mom, a free breakfast is one of my top hotel amenities. You have something to do with your kiddo when they wake up, it’s a great way to save money, and there are healthy options. 

SpringHill Suites delivers on all of this. And most importantly, despite being a free buffet, their breakfast is always clean and somewhat upscale.

Room layout and size

One of the things that makes SpringHill Suites the best hotel chain for families is their large room size. Despite being suites, their rooms aren’t the traditional two room suites (or at least not at the ones I’ve visited). But, they ARE spacious and comfortable. And honestly, I prefer to have one large room because my son is so little.

They have a trundle bed (great for multiple kids!) and desk if working parents need to get a few things done while traveling. There’s plenty of space for luggage storage. And importantly, bathrooms are a large size for multiple people to get ready at the same time. 

Hotel amenities

If your kids are anything like mine, snacks are one of the top vacation treats they look forward to. SpringHill Suites usually has a small shop right in the lobby (with beer and wine for mom and dad!).

This comes in handy if you’ve run out of in room snacks (as we very often do), and your kids are looking for an end-of-day bag of chips to nosh on while they wind down. 

The properties we’ve stayed at have also usually had a pool, space for mingling with fire pits, and one had a bar where my husband and I could get an evening beverage.
