Savannah Children’s Museum: 3 Reasons to Visit

One of our favorite family activities in Savannah is the Savannah Children’s Museum. They have so many activities for little kids to do. Everything from active play, areas to be creative, and even some parts where kids can build and use their hands.  

The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., and it is just $12 per person for admission. Trust me that it’s a great deal for how much there is to do!

Savannah Children’s Museum is perfect for train lovers

Savannah Children’s Museum is located in TriCentennial Park, which is home to both the Children’s Museum and Savannah Railroad Museum. Even without buying tickets for the Railroad Museum, you’re able to see so many trains as you walk in.

The first section of the Children’s Museum was maybe my son’s favorite (he asked to go back a few times!). It’s an old train car that you can go inside and there are tons of educational toys, games and books. We loved being inside of a real train!

Almost fully outdoor play space

When we visited, we were traveling to Savannah from the Midwest in February, so wanted to be outside as much as possible. One of the best things about Savannah Children’s Museum is that other than the train car at the beginning, it’s completely outdoors! We loved enjoying the fresh air and sunshine while we played.

The space is two stories, with the majority of games and activities a short slide ride away. They had something for everyone, and so many of the activities promote imagination and creative play, which is something we love in our house!

At one end of the museum, they had a huge maze that we loved running through and exploring. They also had a play kitchen, giant marble run, blocks and soft shapes to build with. But the favorite in our family was a ship wheel with maps of the waters around Savannah where kiddos can pretend to drive a boat.
