I’ve been visiting Grand Cayman for my whole life.
My first trip to the island was when I was six months old. I obviously don’t remember it, but have seen pictures of myself floating on Seven Mile Beach and playing in the sand beneath Cayman’s palm trees and Australian pines.
Decades later, my husband and I brought my son for the first time and I had to take a moment when I realized my baby was splashing in the same water I once did, playing in the same sand I once did, and even was getting some shade beneath the same trees I once did.
In between, I spent childhood summers in Cayman, brought my husband when we started dating, and eventually got engaged and married on the island. After all of those visits, I feel confident putting together what I think is the best Grand Cayman with kids itinerary you’ll find.
I’m covering where to stay (including why Harbour Heights is my top pick for families), the can’t-miss activities like the Cayman Turtle Centre and Camana Bay, and the restaurants that work for both picky little eaters and parents who want great food. And all of these recommendations are drawn from a lifetime of visiting this island.
If you’re wondering whether a Grand Cayman vacation with kids is a good idea — or whether it’s too expensive, too adult, or too complicated to navigate with a toddler — I’m the right person to ask.

Day 1
When visiting Grand Cayman with kids, it’s helpful to have a rental car. When you arrive, pick up your rental car at one of the many car rental vendors offered at Owen Roberts International Airport.
The Seven Mile Beach area of Grand Cayman is very walkable, so if you’re staying there, a rental car isn’t mandatory, but we prefer to have one when traveling with our son.
If you want a few groceries, stop at either Kirk Market or Foster’s at Camana Bay on your drive to your hotel or condo.
The grocery store might be the first time you experience the currency exchange rate. If you’re traveling from the US, it’s about $1 USD = approx. $.80 KYD, so between import taxes and exchange rate, you might be surprised by prices. Budget accordingly!
Check in at one of the kid-friendly hotels on Seven Mile Beach or a vacation rental condo like Harbour Heights.
We prefer to stay in a condo when we visit Grand Cayman with kids. They have multiple bedrooms, kitchens and have more space for us to spread out, especially if we’re staying for a week or more.
Next, unwind after a long travel day at your hotel or condo’s pool.
Almost all hotels and condos along Seven Mile Beach have a pool, and some (like Harbour Heights) even have complementary pool and beach toys. We love saving the suitcase space!
Grab a casual dinner at Peppers, which is located on the southern end of the Seven Mile Beach area.
Peppers is famous for their island jerk BBQ. Some of our favorites are jerk chicken and rundown mahi mahi (fish cooked in coconut milk and spices).
They also have a great kids’ menu and tropical cocktails for parents (you NEED to get a rum punch!).
Some nights, they have live music too. Check their website for the current schedule if you’re able to stay out late enough.
Day 2
If you’re staying in a condo, make breakfast there and enjoy your private patio views of Seven Mile Beach.
If you’re staying in a hotel, head out for breakfast at Coconut Joe’s.
Coconut Joe’s is a very casual restaurant across the street from The Marriott Grand Cayman Resort. Seating is all outdoors and they have typical American breakfast staples and coffee. Don’t be alarmed if there are chickens roaming around. They’re friendly!
Then, spend the morning learning about Cayman’s wildlife at the Cayman Turtle Centre.
This is a great activity if you’re visiting Grand Cayman with kids. They have several ticket packages based on the experience you want and time you want to spend.
The more basic one allows you to see turtles and other animals close up, and a more comprehensive one adds the option to swim and snorkel in the turtle lagoon. There is even a waterslide!
In addition to turtles, the Cayman Turtle Centre has an aviary where you can learn about Caymanian birds and a large tank with many species of predatory fish. The predatory fish tank has daily shark feedings, and educational sessions led by the experts.
Next, grab lunch at Macabuca.
It’s a casual, waterfront tiki bar restaurant that is across the street from the Cayman Turtle Centre. The restaurant is mainly situated on a large patio that overhangs the water, so the views are incredible. Check out their live webcam if you want to get jealous!
And their food is great too. The main menu has lots of sandwiches, salads and fresh seafood. And their kids menu has the full rage of kid favorites like grilled cheese, hot dogs, chicken tenders and more.
Then, head back to your hotel or condo and get a few hours of beach and pool time in (trust me: you will want plenty of time on Seven Mile Beach with its pristine sand and calm waters!)
End the day with dinner at Luca.
Even though Luca is a fine dining restaurant, it is SO kid-friendly. My pro tip is to make a reservation and go early (around 5:30 or 6 p.m.) Luca is right on Seven Mile Beach, so the sunset views are amazing.
The menu is contemporary Italian with lots of seafood infusion. Owners Andreas and Paolo have created an amazing contemporary menu with authentic Italian ingredients and have a wine cellar with over 1,600 labels!
The kids menu offers simple Italian favorites like spaghetti bolognese, and also traditional kid favorites like chicken fingers and mac & cheese.
Don’t skip dessert at Luca. Their menu is extensive and the desserts are as delicious as they are beautiful.
Day 3
After breakfast in your condo, head to Camana Bay to stroll around.
Camana Bay is a shopping and dining center with lots of options in both areas.
There are two fountain areas at Camana Bay that kids can play in, so bring a swimming suit and towel! The Crescent Fountain is larger and at the back of the property. And there is a smaller fountain near the movie theater in the middle of Camana Bay.
Don’t miss the observation tower, which offers a great panoramic view of the island. The walk up is almost as picturesque as the views from the top. The walls are covered with an underwater mosaic made up of over 3 million tiles that shift from dark to light as you walk up (just like coming to the surface of the sea!).
One of our favorite stores to visit is Next Chapter. I recommend stopping there before lunch! This is a huge book and toy store, so we always pick out a new small toy or book to help keep my son occupied while we’re at lunch..
Have lunch at Waterfront Urban Diner which is located right on the harbor.
Waterfront Urban Diner is a casual restaurant, think burgers, salads, seafood and jerk. They have a great kids menu, and several all-day breakfast items (which my son always opts for!).
Since it’s on the harbor, you’ll have a great view of boats sailing by!
Spend the rest of your day on Seven Mile Beach (again, you will NOT want to miss it!).
